Engagement Album

So, the engagement album is ALMOST done.  I have a few more pages to go.  I tried to finish it while on an awesome vacation to Tennessee and Williamsburg, but that didn't go as planned.  I had to share this page because I finally got around to using the slice feature on my Cricut machine!!!  So cool, I can't wait to find more excuses to use it.  So I created a row of hearts.  Then I created a smaller heart and layered it on top of each heart and clicked the slice button; and there was a hole woohoo!!! So I did this 6 times, then welded them together and copy and pasted the row two more times and then welded the rows together.  There you have it your very own overlay!!!  The dots on the craft cardstock are from a dot background stamp that I randomly stamped all over the paper.  The rest of the supplies are listed under the photo.  Enjoy :-)

Love my Cricut

I finally got to try out a few Cricut Explore things a few weeks ago.  Love the print and cut!!! I still use photo paper and print and cut two images and tape them together with foam tape.  I did find that my HP Printer ink doesn't dry well so I have to be careful not to rub off the registration marks.  I did find that a black sharpie does fix that problem if I do happen to rub them off some.  My only complaint with the Cricut Print and Cut is that I can only print onto 81/2 x 11 paper and really more towards the size of 6x6 because of the registration marks.  Not a ton of fun when your normal printer at home is a wide format.  I'm hoping that'll change in the future.  Other than that, it's super easy and will print and cut anything!!! I used an image from the Disney Dreams Come True Cricut Cartridge and an image from the internet that I saved to my computer.  Both print and cut perfectly with no problems.

I also attempted the Cricut pens.  Well..I'll just say they kind of left a little to be desired.  I used the silver metallic which was super cute and then faded towards the end to a light gray.  I'm interested in trying other brands, because I loved the idea of it.

Christmas Projects Complete

Finally finished the last of my Christmas cards!!! 

For the card I used May Arts ribbon, the moose is from the Silhouette store and the paper is from My Minds Eye.

I also made a few gift card holders.  So super quick and easy!!

This is the insde.  I decided to cut a gift card insert so the card woulnd't be floating around on the inside.

I followed the tutorial found on the Loven Stamps Blog.  Great tutorial give it a shot!! I made 3 of these in less than an hour from 1 sheet of 12x12 paper!

Boxed Up

It's almost Christmas time so it's time to start wrapping!!!!  I exchange Christmas ornaments with my Best Friend every year.  This year I made her's and I posted the tutorial about that here.  The problem I ran into was finding a box that would fit them.  So finally after searching for something for months someone posted a picture of a jumbo box that she made and I knew it would fit my ornaments.  There is a tutorial video that can be found here.  I have now created 3 of them as I'm also giving away an ornament to a family member and I've also been invited to an ornament exchange party.  All of the pictures are below, with the supplies listed under each.  For the boxes I used the Silhouette Chipboard and the Cricut Cartridge Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2.  The box that I used is called the Box with Handle.

CRICUT EXPLORE HAS ARRIVED!!!!

Ok, so I FINALLY, bit the bullet and bought the Cricut Explore, OMG am I so glad I did!!! So, the purple that was available for one day only on HSN had me sold, but after receiving it, I have to say, it's pretty cool!!! I am getting used to the software. The concept is great, but it is different from Craft Room.  Design Space is actually a lot cleaner and fresher in my opinion.  My absolute favorite feature, BLUETOOTH!!!! I have one less USB cord in my craft room.  Gotta love one less cord.  So here's my very first project..

 

Super cute gift box to give ornaments that I've made this year.  Very easy to make. I cut the box from the Artbooking Cricut Catridge.  The Explore even creates the score lines for you so there is no guess work.  I cut the lid and then ran it through my Ebosser with the scalloped rectangle die to cut the hole in the lid.  I used transparency film to cover the hole on the inside.  The bow was created with the My Creative Time Scalloped Bow Die and a glue gun.  Here's a close up of the bow just because I think it's so cute!!!

It's time for a Birthday Card

Woohoo!!! My other half is getting older, he's 36 today!!! Sounds like a great excuse for a birthday card for me!!! Normally I make him cards that look like they're for a 36 year old, but this year, NOPE! I had to use this cute owl print and cut image from the Silhouette store!!! A few balloons cut on my Cricut Machine, some stamps, an enamal dots made for a quick A2 size card!!  Can't wait to give it to him today, he's gonna love it!

Christmas Ornaments

So this project is even great for little kids! How much do they love making a mess, well this has a fabulous mess factor.  You should see the carpet in my scrapbook room after this one!

Painted Christmas Ornament Tutorial

What you need:

1) Acrylic Paint (cheaper at Walmart)

2) Typical round glass ornament

3) Vinyl

4) Contact Paper (cheaper at Walmart)

5) heat tool (even a blow dryer works for this)

 

I picked up the ornaments from AC Moore there were 4 in a box. Take the silver cap off of the ornament.

 Pour in the acrylic paint and swril it around until it covers the entire inside of the ornament.  Turn the ornament upside down and sit inside a plastic cup so the excess pain can drain out.  

Create your vinyl designs with Silhouette or Cricut and cut them out.  Peal off the excess vinyl around the design.  Cut a peice of contact paper and get some of the sticky off, by sticking it to your clothes, then stick it over the top of your vinyl design.  Peel the vinyl design from it's backing and place it on your ornament.

One tip to make this easier, cut small slits in the contact paper so that it has some mobility when adhearing it to the round ornament.  Use your scrapper to rub the design onto the glass.  Peel off the contact paper.  make sure that all the air bubbles are out of the deisgn.  Use your heat gun to heat up the the vinyl and then rub over the vinyl again to be sure it is stuck to the glass.  Tie a bow in a coordinating color and you're ready to give your gift at Christmas!

 

Glittered Christmas Ornament Tutorial

So this is the stuff you'll need.  All of it can be found at Walmart, with the exception of the ornaments. They're the same ornaments used above from AC Moore.  Although I'm sure Walmart has them too, I didn't look.

Take the silver cap off of the ornament and pour in the pledge floor cleaner.  Pour the floor cleaner in the ornament and swril it around to coat the inside.  Turn it over in a paper cup to drain out excess floor cleaner.

Put the funnel inside the ornament.  Pour in the glitter.  Over the coffee filter swirl the glitter around to coat the inside of the ornament.  The more glitter you pour in the more glitter affect you'll receive.  Dump the excess glitter into the coffee filter and use the filter to pour the glitter back into the container.  Put the silver cap back on the ornament and you're done!  I will be cutting vinyl for this and I'll heat set it as I did in the above tutorial.  

 

 

Weekend in the woods

I'm back!!!! I've been back for a week.  I spent last weekend in the woods with a great group of ladies geting a lot of page done!!!  I actually page planned for this trip and managed to get 36 pages that I had planned completed and a couple of extras!  It was a great time!!! 

I jazzed up a little pinterest inspiration for this one.  So super easy!!  A couple strips of paper and a mickey punch and that was about it.  I cut the hands and the Disney logo with my cricut, I punched out all the Mickey heads with my punch, but the cricut does make those as well.  Martha Stewart Christmas Twine for the balloons and banner bows.  The embossing paste that I mentioned in my haul video was used on the banners with the designs.  I had to try it before I could make a video and talk about super easy!  I used a DCWV Stencil that I picked up at JoAnns, i used the white embossing paste let it dry and then colored it with a Fiber-Castele Gelato in yellow. 

My Godson is playing Basketball now!  So we're not sure he's doing football again, but at the moment he has decided basketball is his entire life.  Oh to only be 7 again!! Love it!!!  So this was quick.  The letters were cut on the Silhouette and the basketball hoops on the cricut.  The other embellishments came in a pack of stickers I just popped a few up and grouped them together, nothing too fancy, but it was probably one of my favorite pages of the weekend.

This is one of my God Daughter's pictures from her 1 year old birthday photo shoot last year.  She'll be 2 this year.  OMG they grow up entirely too fast!!!  I always blur her out and especially this one because she's in swimwear and you just have to be so careful now.  For this page I wanted to create a little texture so I used the DCWV cork 6x6.  The ruler came from a pack of paper I had in my stash I honestly don't remember.  I'm sure it was in a DCWV paper pad though.  Nothing fancy just a few layers and great textures.  That's always fun on any page!! 

I have quite a few more pages, that I'll be posting as I unpack.  I'm a little slow this time because I have a day crop coming up too so I won't be unpacking completely.

Another challenge is complete!! I finished it last night, but was too tired to get the post up.  This is for Our Daily Bread. Scrappy Weekend

The weekend has come to an end, but I got a few pages done while I was around the house on Saturday which was nice.  Here they are!!

Mom and I go to ICE at the Gaylord every year on my birthday.  It's just the coolest thing to see all the things they can make out of ice.  The Theme this year was the Night Before Christmas.  We loved it as always.
